How To Instantly Increase Your Video Content Views And Engagement By 80% Using This Simple Trick

Subtitles are a huge determining factor on whether or not a video will perform well on social media. Did you know that 80% of people using social media watch videos without the sound on. Think about that for a second… That is leaves you with potential to instantly increase your audience and engagement by 80% just by simply having subtitles on your videos!

Just imagine how much more likely you are to get that next client all because they actually stopped to watch your video.

There are actually 2 types of subtitles you can use on your videos and you need to be aware of both.

  • Hard-Coded
  • Dynamic

Let’s first look at the differences between them and then when you should use one over the other.

Hard-Coded Subtitles

First up is Hard-Coded subtitles.

These are subtitles that are actually burned onto the video itself and so can’t be disabled or hidden. It’s part of the video, will always be visible & this is added to the video using a professional editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro 10.

You’ll usually use & see this on Instagram & Facebook videos mainly because there isn’t a way of having Dynamic subtitles on Instagram and Facebook. The only exception to this is on Facebook Page’s, so a business page rather than your personal profile. For most people using Instagram and Facebook, Hard-coded is your only option but still does the job perfectly.

Dynamic Subtitles

What are dynamic subtitles?

So Dynamic subtitles are actually a separate file which you upload alongside your video that contains the subtitles within it. The video you upload doesn’t have any subtitles burned in, it is an added layer on top of the video. This is great to use for Facebook business pages and posting videos on LinkedIn.

Why do you think I recommend using Dynamic subtitles on your LinkedIn and Facebook business page videos?

First of all – they offer it as a feature when you go to upload a video so that tells you straight away, you should probably be using it!

Also if LinkedIn and Facebook detects a video has these Dynamic subtitles added, they may promote that video more, compared to a video without Dynamic subtitles.

I have no evidence to back this up, this is just my opinion, but if I was LinkedIn or Facebook I would be thinking “who is tailoring their video content to the 80% of people who don’t have video audio turned on?”  they’re the people we should be promoting more!

So that last point you can decide for yourself whether to agree or disagree, that’s just our view!

Now you have a better understanding of the importance of Hard-Coded and Dynamic subtitles you can start increasing that engagement and getting more clients!
